Having been brought up in a French-Canadian neighborhood that was similar to the one depicted in BEST FRIENDS, albeit in Ontario, I immediately felt "at home" when I began reading. It was as though I was back in High School experiencing the traumas of living with an alcoholic parent. Moved by many emotions that came to the fore, I immediately felt the pangs of my teenage years. BEST FRIENDS helped me relive my past and get over it as I read on from chapter to chapter hurriedly because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The bonds of true friendship sprang before my eyes and healed my heart as I realized the importance of keeping in touch with people, who had meant much to me in the past, even though we had gone our separate ways. BEST FRIENDS are forever and the lives of BEST FRIENDS touch one another whether they be near or far. This I learned, this I experienced thanks to BEST FRIENDS.
