I started out going to read Breaking Spades earlier this week and realized I hadn't read Books 2 or 3 of this series yet so I was very excited... I've got three books to read... all about the Hamden men. Woohoo!

Anyway... so, we were first introduced to Dylan Cross in the first Hamden series book - Three of Hearts. Notorious playboy and one of Seth's bet friends.

Let's meet Natalie - devoted daughter, kindergarten teacher, nerdy bookworm.

Family drama leads Natalie to do something she never would have done. She goes to a bar hoping to proposition someone to be her boyfriend to make her mom happy. She ends up literally bumping into Dylan and they are both stunned by the other.

These two are total opposites, but something is there and Dylan feels it. He brings Natalie into his circle of friends and finds himself doing things with her that he normally wouldn't do with any other woman. Natalie experiences many firsts with him, including jealousy of other women. They go on dates, he meets her family, he sticks up to her brothers on her behalf.

Good things never last right, and she did expect whatever they had to end, but does it and just what did Dylan write on that piece of paper and seal in that envelope?

All I know is that there were certain places in this book where I actually could here Bruno Mars' song "Just The Way You Are" playing in my head. I fell for Dylan, hook, line and sinker and the last name Cross is no longer related to some billionaire business owner in New York. LOL

Honestly. I'm moving to Vermont, because they grow some mighty fine men there. At least they do in W. Ferraro's vision of Hamden. Three of Spades is the second installment in her Hamden Series, and this time we learn about Dylan Cross and his twisty road to redemption at the hands of Natalie Parker.

Dylan is a womanizer. There isn't much about the fairer sex he doesn't enjoy. And that enjoyment is always on his terms with no strings attached. Until one fateful night when timid teacher Natalie walks into his life and offers him a business arrangement that knocks him for a loop - she wants him to pretend to be her boyfriend and to show her everything about sex. Now, he's a notorious flirt and a bit of a man-whore, but her proposition makes him look long and hard at his life up to this point and the serious ramifications of what Natalie is offering. But there's something about her that draws him to her, and he decides to take Natalie up on her offer.

Of course, along the way, their business relationship turns into much, much, more. As quiet, intelligent, and dutiful Natalie begins to come out of her shell because of Dylan, he also begins to realize what has been missing in his life. Is it possible that this petite beauty, the complete antithesis of every other woman he's bedded, is the woman he's destined to be with? Or is he okay with keeping to the agreement thus ensuring his carefree, duty free existence?

There is steam galore in this book, and a very healthy dose of alpha male. I enjoyed this second book as much, if not more than the first, Three of Hearts. I'm glad I read them in order because of the background information that carries over and further character development. I'm now a fan of W. Ferraro after having a romping good time with two of her books, and am going to start on the third book in the series immediately!

I read Three of Hearts and honestly didn't like it. I liked the main characters of Mae and Seth but I just didn't like their story or how it was written. But now reading Three of Spades...holy cow, I can't believe both books are by the same author.

W. Ferraro's writing has grown by leaps and bounds with this one. This beautifully written love story between plain Natalie Parker and the very sexy and womanizing Dylan Cross had me completely captivated from the very first page!

I love this kind of storyline, where a deception of the heart turns into true love. Dylan is as swoonworthy as they come and it was so great to watch Natalie come out of her cocoon and become the lovely butterfly everyone could see but her. In addition, the secondary characters of CeCe, Wes and even Gloria added a really nice touch to this book. I am hopeful CeCe gets her story told as well.

I simply enjoyed every word and look forward to Three of Diamonds next!
